Homemade Healthy Hazelnut Spread
When looking for food in a hurry, we usually don't aim for what's best for our health, but rather whatever eliminates our hunger ASAP. If you are anything like us, you might try to behave and a) put up with the hunger, hoping you’ll actually make it alive to your next meal, or b) give up and promise next time you’ll be ready with a healthy option.
Well, we are here to tell you: we get it. When you are looking for a quick breakfast, an energy boost, a guilt-free dessert, or a small munchie, it is not always easy to find the right choice. With this in mind, we thought of the one thing holds both speed and energy: a healthy, homemade, hazelnut spread. Delicious and it will give you a fair amount of boost to tackle your routine motivated and, most importantly, satisfied.
Now, enough with the rambling and onto the actual recipe. Our hazelnut spread only takes 20 minutes and serves 1 jar. Keep fresh, and it will last up to two weeks.
What You'll Need
How to Do It
- First, preheat the oven to 300°F. Take a baking pan and place a baking sheet, toss the hazelnuts on it making sure they are spread nicely. Roast them for 15 minutes and shake the tray every so often to make sure they get all nice and crispy.
- Take the hazelnuts out and fold them in a kitchen towel. Leave them to cool down for about 1 minute, then rub them against the towel to get rid of the skin.
- Now that the hazelnuts are nice and clean, add them to a mixer along with a pinch of JS Fleur de Sel, 1 tbsp of coconut oil, and 2 pinches of JS Oatmeal Spice Blend. Blend together until reaching a creamy mixture.
- Optional: If you want your spread to be sweeter, you can add a little bit of chocolate. Just melt chocolate pieces and add it to the mix. This will give the spread the "Nutella" taste you are looking for.
Being totally honest, this spread is our life saver. We love knowing we are having a healthy option. So there you go, no more excuses!
