Note
3 Ways to get Potato Wedges Crispy
- Soak and Dry:When you have time, soaking the potato wedges in cold water before cooking helps remove excess starch, which can contribute to sogginess. Soak the wedges for about 30 minutes, then drain them and pat them dry with a kitchen towel. This step is especially important when using the oven or deep fryer methods.
- Proper Spacing: Whether you're using the oven, air fryer, or deep fryer, it's crucial to arrange the potato wedges in a single layer with enough space between each wedge. Proper spacing allows for better airflow and prevents overcrowding, which can lead to steaming instead of crisping. Avoid piling up the wedges on top of each other.
- Higher Temperature or Finishing Touch: If you're using the oven or air fryer, consider increasing the temperature for a few minutes near the end of the cooking time to achieve a crispier texture. This technique, known as "blasting," can help enhance the crunchiness. Additionally, you can brush the wedges with a little oil or melted butter during the last few minutes of cooking for an extra crispy and golden finish.
